The Book of Art

"Great nations write their autobiographies in three manuscripts, the book of their deeds, the book of their words, and the book of their art" ~John Ruskin
(The Ancient Mediterranean World)

This quote is interesting for me because it clearly shows how very seperate those three parts of a society really are. The first two are by far the most controversial for most people, but people forget that artwork can tell a story atleast as well as words and show it nearly as well as actions. What I am trying to say is that people no longer recognize the power that artwork has over a civilization and the incredible effects it can have upon people, driving them to act, speak, or express themselves in their own form of art.
