ReplyDeleteLaws are there to keep order and peace, so being pure doesn't necissarily mean obediant and in line.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting quote because it really brings up the question of what spurs disobedience: is it immorality or a sense of injustice? Would injustice even exist if all men were pure? I think I see a grain of truth to what Disraeli was trying to say...I think a lot of interesting debate could result from this.
ReplyDeleteWhat is purity? Every culture has their own ideals, and moral values. Today there is no purity, there is no question of right and wrong. It is the laws and opinions of the people that decide whats right or wrong, and these are always under attack from both sides all arguing that their ideals are morally justified.
